Coolibar Partners with the City of Tampa in Vital Protective Clothing Donation

Clothing was made available at various distribution centers for those affected by Hurricane Milton.

TAMPA, FL, October 11th, 2024 -- As the city of Tampa recovers from Hurricane Milton's aftermath, Coolibar, the Florida-based world leader in sun-protective apparel, has stepped forward to support emergency response teams and residents in need. The Miami-based company has partnered with the City of Tampa by donating thousands of sun-protective clothing items to aid those in the hardest-hit areas of the storm, with a special focus on emergency crews and individuals who have lost their belongings.

The donation includes a wide range of Coolibar's UPF 50+ protective clothing designed to block 98% UVA and UVB rays. Emergency responders and government workers will receive safety-colored products from Coolibar's professional brand, Suntect®. At the same time, everyday Coolibar-branded shirts, shorts, pants, leggings, hats, and other essentials will be made available at various city-operated distribution stations.

These clothes will provide crucial protection for individuals who expect to be outdoors for extended periods, either working on relief efforts or working outside their homes, assessing and managing damages.

"Everyone in the Tampa Bay area is going to be outside for a while, especially those who have had their homes damaged, and we hope some fresh clothing and accessories will go a long way in helping them just make it through the days," said Robert Burns, Marketing Manager for Coolibar. "We really wanted to make this a resource the city can use for their communities. In many cases, these workers haven't had much of a break after two major storms, or they're evacuees returning home to find the clothes they left behind are destroyed."

To get even more fresh clothes to those impacted by the storm, Coolibar will offer 30% off its entire website using the code RECOVERY24. (valid through November 11th)

"As our city recovers from the devastation of both Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the safety and well-being of both our emergency crews and residents remain a top priority," said Janelle H. McGregor, City of Tampa Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships. "Coolibar's generous donation of sun-protective clothing will be a vital resource, helping protect those in need as they face challenging conditions outdoors during this critical time. We're incredibly grateful for their support, which not only aids in our recovery efforts but also serves as a reminder of the strength that comes from community partnerships," said McGregor.

Coolibar's donation comes when clean, protective clothing is more important than ever. With ongoing recovery efforts and cleanup expected to last months, sun exposure poses a real risk to first responders and residents. Wearing UPF clothing not only helps as a shield from the sun's harmful rays but also offers comfort and peace of mind for those enduring difficult conditions.

Coolibar's efforts to provide sun-protective clothing reflect its commitment to the health and well-being of communities nationwide. As recovery continues in the wake of Hurricane Milton, the company stands ready to assist with ongoing relief efforts. Coolibar hopes its donation sparks other companies to provide similar items directly to communities that need them.
